News

Well friends, it's been a few weeks since I've said anything. I've been busy out in Santa's workshop, (AKA my garage) making things to give away for Christmas. I'm having soo much fun. The people at Lowes are getting to know me, (but most people do know me) and the check out girls are also becoming familiar. I like this new thing that the stores are doing with the 'self checkout'. I don't have to wait for people in line. I've been buying a lot of birch, poplar, and pine. I'd post pictures, but then someone might see the goodies and figure things out. hmmmm...

I've got a new e-mail address now. It's timfishhere@yahoo.com So...with my greatly enhanced password, hopefully I'll be able to keep this one secure.

Other news, my son Aaron has recently passed his test to become a journeyman elevator mechanic. woo hoo!!! I'm so proud of him.

I'm NOT in London

Friends and lurkers. I have been hacked into!!! Oh what charlatan hath hacked into the private e-mail and facebook account? Do not worry my friends, and definitely DO NOT send money to me. However, I will accept gifts. (he he) I'm concerned about people that I need to contact, but who's numbers or e-mail addresses I no longer have. I have been locked out of my own e-mail and facebook account. I contacted hotmail via web, and let them know that my account has been stolen, and guess what....Wait for it....They will "e-mail" me with information. Hmmmmmm WHERE ARE THEY E-MAILING IT TO? THE GUY THAT HAS MY ACCOUNT???!!! Anyway, When I get things straightened out, I will post my new address (alas, I will no longer be "lf8rman") Until then, take heart. I am O.K. and Cousin Rhonda, don't worry. I had just become facebook friends with cousin Billie, and now she probably thinks I'm crazy. Oh what a world.

Waching the Grandkids

We've got the young uns for the weekend. Today we went to the "Weiner Dog Races" at Wolf Pen Creek Ampitheater. We saw HUNDREDS of dogs. I have some "Tot Speak". During the day we told the grandkids, Taylor (Tot) and Dave (Bubba) that there would be LOTS of dogs and they were NOT to try and pet any of them without asking first. "Excuse me, may I pet your dog please?" was the line we gave them. Taylor has never been afraid to talk to ANYONE. One lady allowed her to pet the dog and had a nice conversation with Tot.

Nice Lady: "You've never met a stranger have you?"

Tot: "Well..Once I did, by accident."

We had lots of fun. Pictures to follow

Well, we ALL got sugared up and ran around like chickens with our heads chopped off and then came home and crashed for a couple of hours. Mmmmm....sugar coma.....

Fancy was her name

I have to say this is one of the best pictures of Allison I've ever seen. Of course in two months, she's got a LOT of pictures ahead of her. I also have to say that she looks "Fancy".

To Be Continued.....

Tim Fish Here. Have I ever told you how much I HATE movies that end but have NOT ended? Such as Harry Potter or Lord of the Ring. I also HATE it when you're watching a television show that ends with "To Be Continued".... I HATE THAT!! Anyway, I was dreaming the other night. It was a good dream, a happy dream, then all of a sudden, IN MY DREAM, a sub-title comes across my mind that says....wait for it.... TO BE CONTINUED!!! What's up with that? Then I woke up and I was NOT a happy camper. What does it all mean...

Well, today is the day!! The Waco Tea Party. I'm all atwitter with anticipation. I hope our out of control government that is spending money like it grows on trees, is listening. Watch Fox News, you might see me. My poster says "What will you do without Freedom"

Protests, and football

Tim Fish Here. I can't wait, I can't wait!!! Only one more day until the big event in Waco! The Tea Party Express is a comin to town. I've got my protest poster ready and have been practicing my yelling. I've become quite the radical.
The cooler weather is enjoyable, and getting to mow the yard in under 100 degree heat is refreshing.
School has begun and our first home football game is on Saturday. Go Aggies!! Whoop

Town Hall Meetings Rock

Tim Fish Here. Wow O wow wow wow!! Just got back from Chet Edwards' Town Hall Meeting. We're a Rackus bunch of Texans, I must admit. I am proud to say that we had several (many) outbursts and "Boos" from the crowd. If you've never been to a town hall meeting with a bunch of mad people, then you need to find one and attend. My sweet wife isn't quite as used to all the yelling and stuff as I am. She was out of her comfort zone. I told her that she should attend one of my Union Meetings with me.

Business is a boomin

Tim Fish Here. We went to see the new movie "Inglorious Basterds", (I know, they misspelled it on purpose) and I gotta say, I loved it!! Brad Pitt is a great actor, much better of an actor than that hack Kevin Costner. I believe that Kevin is way over rated. He only has one character he plays in different settings, while Brad has a wide range and can play many different characters. I hope you don't think that I'm having a "bromance" with Mr. Pitt. I think his decision to dump Jennifer Anniston was terrible. It's obvious that Jennifer is much "hotter" than Angelina. I will never be able to understand what he was thinking. Anyway, if you want some laughs, and don't mind some blood and gore, go see it. It's a lot like pulp fiction in the way it was filmed and told.

Jesus Clears the Temple

Tim Fish Here, I got this cool new T-Shirt with this picture on the front. I love it! I point it out to everyone I see when I'm wearing it. I know you're pee green with envy. Go to "inherit the Mirth" and see all the cool stuff.

I took (forced) Cynthia to go see "District 9" with me Friday night. For my punishemt I was asked (forced) to go see Julie/Julia. Of the two movies, I must admit that J/J was better. I can't recommend D 9.

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Tim Fish Here. We had a great weekend, Cynthia and I had a "spontaneous" trip to Fort Worth for a Grandbaby holding and playing day. Much holding and fun playing was had by all. We also went to Shipley's donuts and bought some food that I can only describe as "Things that must be served in Heaven". Oddly enough, the man that sold us the "Manna" was thin. Hmmmmm...

We have also decided on a name for the Kitten that we got last week. Wait for it... "Spazmina". (Ta Da) She's been giving us 'Spaz Attacks', as we walk past. She goes to the 'Spazateria' for food and she creates 'Spazdamonium' when she returns. She goes to the 'Spazatorium' to give speaches. She also went to the 'Spazroom' and used the litterbox on her way to the 'Spazeater' to watch a movie.

To all of my local readers, There is a peaceful protest scheduled for Monday, August 10th at Noon, outside of Chet Edwards office on 29th street. I hope that many show up to demonstrate that Chet needs to have a town hall meeting open to all. So far he is hiding from his constituents. Participate whether you agree or disagree. Get involved or someone will make your decisions for you. "Word".

Cats and Crummy politicians

Tim Fish Here, Back by popular demand... Holy cow Batman, we have a new Spastic Cat!! We got her on Saturday, she's 8 weeks old and full of vinegar. We've named her "Spaz", cause she is one. Tonight, while eating supper, Cynthia was rudely interrupted by Spaz jumping in the middle of her plate of food. She was NOT amused.

I hope you are all watching the news about the protests going on around the country against the madness called government. We all need to let our "leaders" know what we think, whether we agree or not. If you like what's going on, then let them know. Personally, I'm not happy about anything they are doing. I am pleased that they went on vacation for the month. When they're out of Washington, our freedoms are safe for a few days anyway.

The Spastic cat is now sitting on my chest and resting from her frolics. The OTHER cat is in the corner, observing. Hmmm....

Birthday, and baby

Tim Fish Here. Sorry for the long delay in writing. My beloved turned 50 yesterday!! Yep, you heard me. I'm so proud of her. I love telling anyone that will listen to me about her greatness. We took a road trip to Houston and visited IKEA. (Yuck) Then stopped at a roadside stand for watermelon and strawberries. Mmm... Had dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Whatta happy birthday.

I must tell you about my new grand daughter. One word..WOW! She's a BEAUTY!! I need to hook up my camera and give you all some pictures.

The Baby is a comin!!

Tim Fish Here. Cynthia is at her daughter's house waiting for the 'blessed event'. Kristen is contracting and is scheduled to have that baby at anytime. Woo Hoo!

Boats and Bats

Tim Fish Here. Today was an awesome day! We went over to Aaron's house and took a ride on lake Conroe in his new Tracker, Tahoe ski boat. Whoa Momma what a great time!! He even let me drive it!! I was a good boat driver and kept it in the water the whole time! Hoop-T-Do, La-T-Da!! Also went to one of my favorite stores, The WOODCRAFT STORE!! I bought several new wood carving/whittling knives, cause we all know how much I love to carve wood. Also bought a whittling book and a DVD about building bird houses, and saw some bat houses and got good ideas.

I'm making bat houses for my sweet daughter-in-law for her Organic Herb Farm. If anyone wants one of my awesome bat houses, let me know, because as we all know, BATS ARE OUR FRIENDS!!

Stay away from the fire

Tim Fish Here. It's been a few days since my last post. I don't have a lot of new news, but we'll see what pours out when my fingers start moving.

I read a new book called "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell. It's a good book and an easy read. It's about a bunch of animals that run off the farmer and take over the farm. They begin as Socialists with a pig leader named 'Snowball'. Snowball has a good heart and truly wants everyone to share equally in the work and wealth, but is soon ran off the farm by another pig named 'Napoleon'. He takes over with the help of some dogs that he raised secretly in the barn. By the end of the book the old horse can't tell the difference between the pigs and the humans. Just another lesson in how power corrupts. I wish it weren't so, but our founding fathers understood that government is like fire. To be used as long as we are master over it, but once out of control there's no stopping it. Much like the current government. Hmmmm...

Waffles

Tim Fish Here. My wife is AWESOME!!!! She purchased a Belgian Waffle maker and took over an hour and a half to make them from SCRATCH!! I went into a Belgian Waffle coma after eating 3 of them. It took me two days to come completely out of it. Those were the best waffles in the history of the human race, and I ate them. I hope to have another induced coma next weekend too. Mmmmm...

Cats, Bats, and Ants

Tim Fish Here. I thought I should write something...Anything. I enjoy watching our cat, Gabby. Right now we have just one lamp on, while Cynthia and I sit next to one another on the love seat. Both of us are clicking away on our computers. She's looking at facebook and instant messaging friends, and I'm doing this. Our cat is sitting on the back of the couch watching small insects fly around the lamp. Every now and then she'll take a swipe at one of them...Ah life is good.

I went out in the garage for a few minutes this evening and tinkered around on my new work bench. I will be purchasing some more materials soon, so that I can build some bat houses. I want to give one to my daughter-in-law, who is an organic farmer, growing stuff that people put on food. (Not food, but stuff you put on food) I may also give one to Cynthia's daughter, and make one for us as well. We sit out in the back yard at dusk and I think it would be fun to watch the bats come out at night. Each bat can eat up to 1000 mosquitoes per night. Mmmm.. Did you know that Fire Ants eat chiggers? I wonder if I could build an ant house, so that ants would come and eat them. Perhaps just put out a picnic for them....

The Texas heat wave continues, and it's been reported to me that we've not had any rain now for the entire month of June. Yet, for some reason, my grass continues to grow....Conspiracy? I report, You Decide.

Major Awards, 6 Flags and Poop Smears

Tim Fish Here. It's Here! It's Here! My major award!!! My 19" LCD HD TV from KONE for my 25 years of exemplary service!! Woo Hoo!!! It's beautiful, ooooooo. My first program was FOX News of course. Now I can't wait for my 30 year award. What will it be? What will it be?

The Fishes went to Six Flags over Texas on Saturday. I went with much anticipation, expecting to get my roller coaster groove on. Wellll...the old man just can't seem to ride em like he used to. I hate to admit it, but they gave me motion sickness. This may be the last trip to an amusement park, sadly. Also, It was HOT, How Hot? Damn Hot!

We also discovered a new standard for making major purchases. Cynthia was looking at puppies the other day, and once she realized that it was covered in poop, she didn't want it. So... from now on, if there is a purchase we are thinking about, we go to the store and smear dog poop on it. If we're willing to clean it off, then we'll buy it. What a great idea!! I'm going to patent it. Every time someone smears poop on a new big screen t.v. or new car, I'll get a royalty check!! I'll be rich!

Wait for it.....

Tim Fish here. It's been an eventful week. I received a "major award" for 25 years of service to KONE Inc. My employer feels that I (Tim Fish) am a valued employee!! Woo Hoo!! They took me out to lunch and gave me a certificate (suitable for framing) and a gift!! Yes, a gift!! I got to pick from a plethera of high quality awards. I picked...... wait for it...... a 20 inch LCD flat screen t.v. with a DVD player built in. WWWOOOOOO

This evening we wasted two hours of our valuable time by watching a lousy movie called.....wait for it.....Night at the Smithsonian. I don't recommend it.

This week I built some shelves for the garage and cleaned it up!!! In the former mess I found.....wait for it.....my home made ice cream freezer!!! Woo Hoo!! My mom has THE BEST recipe for home made ice cream. I need to write it down so that I don't have to keep calling every few years and asking for it. Have I told you that I love home made ice cream? Day old ice cream is the best.

My Table Saw Rocks

Tim Fish Here. If I had a hot tub, I'd be sitting in it right now. I bought a new table saw yesterday for my birthday. It rocks. I cut up a bunch of stuff this evening after work. I have a big pile of sawdust in the backyard. My back hurts, my bones hurt, my legs hurt. Have I told you that the IRS sucks? But the good news is, my table saw rocks.

Birthday cakes and Hate Crimes

Tim Fish Here. I'm arguing with the one I call "Honey" about the size of my birthday cake. She seems to think that it should be half the size of the normal one. On the bright side, if I eat the whole thing, it won't be as bad for me. I'm not sure where I come down on this subject.

I dreamed last night that I was at an indoor arena, and instead of paying to get in, I had to clean up the my section of the place after the event was over. What does that mean? Then I was back in college, in my dorm room waking up to people wandering the halls and rooms because it was 'visitors day'. Of course I was naked and trying to figure out how I could get some clothes on without exposing myself to anyone. What does that mean?

I read in the paper where our Congress (In it's infinite wisdom) has passed another "Hate Crimes" bill. H.R. 1913. This time the same bad idea has been all decked out in the latest "Newspeak". It's now the "Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act". Hmmm. Sounds impressive. Who, after all, is for hate? Or Crime? Surely both need opposing. This bill sounds like a twofer. How can it miss?

I want to go on record here that I LOVE EVERYBODY!! So if I ever commit a crime, you all know it will be out of love, not hate. Well except for people who crack their eggs on the fat end. I HATE THOSE PEOPLE!! Everyone knows that you should crack your egg on the small end. I will never intentionally commit a crime against people who crack their egg correctly. However, If by some chance I offend you and you crack your egg on the fat end, well....I will NOT BE SORRY!! After all, you deserve what you get. Fortunately, there are currently no hate crime laws, protecting the 'Fat Egg End Crackers'. So, I will only be punished slightly, if caught. (Again, Evil Laughter, and rubbing hands together) I wonder if there is a hate crime law protecting overweight elevatormen? Sorry, you skinny elevatormen, you don't deserve protecting as much as I do. (More Laughter)

Well People, I'm going to go see a movie and look at power tools for my birthday. The anniversary of the day I sprung forth and began causing trouble. Woo Hoo. I love you Mom! After all, you did all the hard work.

Old men and Grandkids

Tim Fish Here. I will be 51 years old on Monday. I remember when my dad turned 50 years old. Back then, I thought he was old.... Now, not so old. However, my body is changing. I think that I'm having several heart attacks each day, whenever I bend over, reach for something, kneel down, get up, sit down, stand up, etc... What's up with that?

We get to babysit our grandson, David this weekend, all by ourselves!! Woo Hoo! If you want to see pictures and read a very well written blog about David, go to http://unsinkablekristen.blogspot.com/ (see my blog list) and read Kristen's May 21st post. Kristen is an awesome writer and once she gives birth to her 3rd (count em 3) child, (Allison) I don't know if she'll have time to post much. Anyway, I love to spoil the kids. We sugar them up and send them home. (evil laughter)

I've had a few elevators try to beat the crud out of me this week. So far they've only had limited success. Just when you think that you've fixed everything, something ELSE breaks down. What's up with that? When I was a little boy (8 year old or so) I once told my dad, that when I grew up I would be an elevator man and fix "All the elevators in the world". I have been trying, but I don't think that my superior elevator fixing skills will be able to actually accomplish this goal. Pray for me, or pray that some engineer comes up with an elevator that won't break.

I'm going to quit using the silent e's now. Have you seen the Star Trek Movie? Humina, Humina. We saw it this afternoon, with our friends. I must say, it exceeded expectations. I recommend it highly.

Fence is Done

Tim Fish Here. Well friends, I did it. I completed the fence repair. I then mowed and weed ate (eated?) the yard, and then sat and enjoyed the evening. I am rather proud of my fence building skills, and Thankful to the Good Lord for giving me a healthy body to work with. I am available for anyone who might want their fence repaired or built. However, I will do it at my own pace and with plenty of breaks in between the digging and the cementing and the sawing and the hammering and the groaning and the sweating.

We are having some friends from Kansas City come and visit us this weekend. Cynthia and I are looking forward to going to see the new Star Trek movie, and eating. Mmmm.

Dog gone

Tim Fish Here. I've been working on my fence and I must say that although it's more sweating and grunting than I normally like to do, I'm feeling a sense of accomplishment.

I'm also deeply concerned that my beloved has been looking at dogs. I may have to work on my hypnosis.

Fencing

Tim Fish Here. Well, I'm getting too old for this stuff. I began work on the backyard fence repair this evening after work. The past 4 years, has been hard on the ole privacy fence. The posts holding the thing up have rotted out. My neighbor and I thought that the posts were just put in the ground without concrete. WRONG! The guys DID put concrete around the posts, they just didn't FILL the holes. The water under the surface just did what water does to wood. Well, we're going to put new ones in and FILL the holes all the way up. Hmmm.... Anyway, my back hurts and I MAY have had a heart attack. I realized this evening that I will be asking for help when it comes to digging up the sod for our bigger patio. If you see me on your caller I.D. DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Wolverine and Dave Ramsey

Tim Fish Here. Well I "Neti Potted" my way to good health. I feel much better after lying in bed for two days groaning and moaning and sniffing and coughing. I want to thank all of the little people who made it possible. I'm still feeling a bit weak, but am able to sit up and take nourishment. Thankfully, my sweet wife makes nourishing meals for me to sit up and take. Mmmmm....

We went to see the new movie, "Wolverine". I hope all of you that went, stayed for the scene AFTER the credits rolled at the end. It looks like this summer is going to a good summer for movies. Our new motto is "Forget Dave Ramsey, We're going to the movies!". WWDD - What Would Dave Do?

Friday, May 1, 2009

Neti Pots?

Tim Fish Here. I don't feel so well. I even stayed home from work and slept all day, in between taking Benedryl, or Nyquil, or CVS Nasal Spray. I didn't get out of bed until 5:30 p.m. when C. came home. She suggested that I look into buying a "Neti Pot". I've never heard of such a thing. Apparently it's good for your sinuses to pour water into your nostril and letting it run out the other one. Who was the first one to think of that? "Hey Tim, not feeling well? Let's pour some water into your nose and see if that helps." Yeah right. I got on line and search it and sure enough, there are lots of you tube videos of people using neti pots. Even one for white trailer park trash people using turkey basters. Hmmm... I was just going to take the cat and shove her tail up one nostril, but this somehow seems like a better idea. cough, cough, sniff, sniff.

Grandsons and Politics

Tim Fish Here. I walked into the house this evening after work to be met by Cynthia who handed me her cell phone. On the other end was our grandson, David who is two years old. "I miss you grandpa" he said. He woke up from his nap missing his Nana and Grandpa. Soon we'll have him visiting and we'll cook marshmellows out in the firebox outside on the patio. We'll take him to Dairy Queen for ice cream and spoil him as much as we can before sending him back home. (No wonder he misses us) I also have a suprise for him mom and dad whenever they get here. (hint)

Well, Arlen Specter, the low life politician from Pennsylvania has switched parties. Not a real big deal since he was a RINO anyway. I say GOOD RIDANCE! I hope he'll take John McCain and others like them with him. Maybe then we can elect some honorable constitution loving people to their vacated offices.

Blessings and Birds

Tim Fish Here. Boy what a great rainy night. I think the lightning was right on top of us. Don't you love to be sleeping in a dry bed when it's pouring rain? My thoughts quickly turn to all the people in the world who aren't as blessed. I thank God for taking such good care of me. It wasn't anything that I did to be born into a rich country at this time in history. Think of all the people through the centuries who took shelter anywhere they could during storms. Then I'm reminded of all those same people who went to sleep hungry, wondering where their next meal would come from. How blessed are we? We just need to be thankful for the simple things in life. With great blessings come great responsibility. How are we, (me) helping my fellow man? Do I ignore the man on the street with a sign, begging for money, or do I just assume he's a scam artist? I think that sometimes situations like that are placed before me just to see what my reaction will be.

And now for something completely different. I've been buying bird seed for over a year now, and feeding the birds. I have four, (count em 4) birdfeeders in my back yard. Three for seeds and one of those hummingbird feeders. Our yard is a hubbub of activity. We enjoy sitting there and watching them, and listening to all the songs they sing. We've got black birds, Redwinged Blackbirds, Cardinals, Red Headed birds, Yellow breasted birds, sparrows, and doves. Sometimes even pidgeons gather. I've been thinking of putting out raw meat just to see if there are any bears in the neighborhood....

Aches and Pains

Tim Fish Here. I have GOT to get a hottub!! I have been introduced to the healing properties of lying in a tub of hot water. I was crawling around on my hands and knees all day painting a machine room floor. Then after work, I did the thing I hate the most. I mowed the yard. (yuck) I did the obligatory weed eating, and then sprayed more weed poison on the infernal weeds. I'm getting too old to work for a living. I know I should have stayed in school. (Not really, I love my job)

Read All About it

Tim Fish Here. Yes that's me in the picture that was FRONT PAGE news in the Eagle. the Bryan newspaper. (Go to theeagle.com for complete details) I'm famous!! People are buying me lunch and recognising me everywhere I go. I hope the paparazzi stops this madness soon so I can get back to normal life. (whew)

And now for something completely different.

Great Tea Party

Tim Fish Here! Whoa Boy what a great protest! I have an awesome family that would come out and protest with me. I can tell that the grand kids have a great future in protestation. Is there a college course for that or do you just learn it from 'on the job training'? I just hope that the government keeps doing dumb things to keep the protesters employed. Is there a government program that subsidises protests? Oh yeah, there is, President Obama's own "ACORN".

My precious grand kids at their best.

Art Liaison?

Tim Fish Here. Oh Brother, Obama. Now he's going to appoint an "Art Liaison"? Why should the Government have anything at all to do with Art? Who is this 'Art' guy and what's his significance? How come Obama doesn't appoint a "Tim Liaison"? I'm just as important as Art. I'm trying to be someone that President Obama would want to Liaison with. More importantly, we should have a 'Barbecue Liaison'. I mean everyone needs to know about barbecue. Especially Kansas City Barbecue. Mmmm...

Speaking of Barbecue, we're (My sweet wife Cynthia and I) are going to Huntsville with some friends today to eat some barbecue. I skipped breakfast so that I can be especially hungry. We all know that even bad barbecue is better than no barbecue.

Tea party news. It takes a great deal of time to make a quality protest poster. I may have to rethink my efforts. I have one side of my poster blocked out with cool letters, and now I have to color in the letters. I may not have time to do the backside of the poster. I did want to be a double postered protester. Where do all of these other protesters get their posters? Is there a poster service that makes them for you? Perhaps this will be a business opportunity in these trying times. Hmmmm...

Yo Ho, Blow the Man Down

Tim Fish Here. Has anyone else wondered why the Somalian Pirates are still using up the world's resources, ie: air, water, and food? They took control of a United States Ship, then the crew (God Bless Them) took the ship back, and somehow no one Keel Hauled the buggers. THEN, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, (after she stopped laughing) said that the world needs to come together and help come up with a plan to stop this, and the United Nations needs to agree on a "resolution" condemning their actions.... How about this....KILL THE PIRATES!!! I might sick my new best friend, Gene the exterminator on them.

I hope everyone is preparing for the coming Tea Party. I am making posters, so that I can be an effective protester/Hooligan. I've been inviting everyone I speak to during my work day. So far no takers. Hmmmm.... Is it me? Am I too 'over the top'?

More baby news.....Everyone who has fewer than 7 grandchildren, take one step forward, NOT SO FAST THERE McCULLOUGH.

Kill Kill Kill, Everybody do the Cockroach Stomp

Tim Fish Here. We are having a local Tea Party in Bryan, College Station!!

City: Bryan / College Station
When: April 15, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Where: Tanglewood Park, 3900 Carter Creek Parkway
Contact: EMAIL Other Info: http://bcsteaparty.wordpress.com/

I hope everyone in my area will be there. I intend to make a sign and become an activist or a protestor or a hooligan, or whatever you call it.

Today, Gene the Exterminator went to one of my elevator machine rooms and killed hundreds, (or maybe tens) of cockroaches. He's my new hero. I made video.

This weekend we are getting our first experience at babysitting two grandchildren by ourselves. I have stocked up on candy, in keeping with a tradition of having a "candy drawer". Pray for us old folks, trying to keep up with the younguns.

Everything's Up To Date in Kansas City

Tim Fish Here. We had a great time in Kansas City, and we sure enjoyed the SNOW!! I hadn't seen that much snow in a long time. Almost made me want to move north.

Does anyone else have a problem with the President of the United States FIRING the CEO of a private company? When do WE get to waltz in and fire the politicians? They gerrymander the district lines in such a way that it's almost impossible to vote them out of office. We're having a local 'Tea Party' in College Station soon. I suggest that everyone find their nearest Tea Party and attend. A little sidebar to my political actions. I think one of the politicians I've been writing to has sicked the IRS on me. Go Figure.

No More Tea Taxes!!

Tim Fish Here. I think I want to dress like an Indian, (oops, I mean "Native American") and throw some tea into Bryan Lake, or maybe the Brazos River. I doubt anyone would care, but it would make me feel better. Besides, I've always liked dressing up.... Seriously though, I need to find one of those "Tea Parties" they've been having all across the Fruited Plain. President Obama is writing checks that no one can cash, because THERE'S NO MONEY LEFT!!!! The Treasury dept. has started printing money now, because no one wants to lend the U.S. the money!!! Pay down your debt and hang on folks. We are experiencing what's called "Taxation with Lousy Representation", maybe incompetent representation, you choose.

C and I are leaving for a few days of vacation. Wish us well, and pray for a safe trip.

Here Comes the Bride!!

Tim Fish Here. Well their will soon be one more "Fish" in the herd. (Or is it Flock?) Anyway, my youngest son, Seth has asked his girlfriend, Mary Margaret to be his bride. (She said yes) She also is aware of the forthcoming "Fish Jokes". She's doomed.... I wish to publicly congratulate them on their upcoming nuptials.

Now, regarding the broo Ha Ha over the AIG bonuses. I called my congressman's office today. Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears. If the government doesn't have to honor a contract to an employee that EARNED a bonus, then they can come after your money too. This is an outrage!!! Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should both be in JAIL because of their role in the banking crisis. They are the ones who forced banks to give loans to people who could not afford home loans. They are the ones that forced Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae to BUY those bad loans. Our government is corrupt to the core and we need to vote these bums OUT OF OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Let's not forget that compared to the TRILLIONS of dollars these baffoons have spent, the AIG bonuses are a drop in the bucket. Let's get outraged over that instead of the bonuses. "Take the beam out of your own eye, before you take the speck out of someone else's eye".

Mow, Mow, Mow the grass.

Tim Fish Here. "Everything is better with Blue Tooth". That's the latest wisdom given to me by Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory". If you don't watch this Sitcom, you should. Cynthia and I never miss an episode. Every Monday night at 7:00 p.m. on CBS.

Springtime has hit Bryan, Texas. I can hear the sounds of the neighbor mowing his grass. I have thus far ignored the call of the wild and am letting the weeds grow for another day or two before I get the machine out of the garage and pull the rope to turn the magneto that causes current to run through the spark plug that ignites the petroleum product and begins the controlled explosions which turn the crankshaft and moves the blade in a circular motion cutting the blades of green chlorophyll. Perhaps I'll make a video someday.

In the meantime, you've GOT to see the latest episode of "How I met your Mother".

Craziness

Tim Fish Here. Why does everyone make fun of us rednecks until their car breaks down. Then we're their best friend!!

A Houston Police Officer was shot in the face while performing his duties, by an illegal alien, who had been arrested and returned to Mexico in the past. Bill White, the Mayor of Houston has created a "Sanctuary City" out of Houston. He has instructed his police force to not enforce immigration laws. I wonder what he thinks now?

Be sure to take off work early on Friday and watch Glen Beck on the Fox News Channel at 4:00 Central time.

Fooooodddd

TimFish Here. Just got back from Fort Worth, and a quick visit to see grandkids. Hubba Hubba Hubba! That little Dave can eat like a hungry man. We went to IHOP for brunch and I got one of those GREAT Blueberry Crepes with cream cheese. MMmmmmm.. I could have eaten several.

C is exposing me to all kind of cuisine. She bought a Panini skillet last week. I've never heard of a "Panini" before. I looked it up on Wikapedia. I look forward to Panini (sandwich) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A panini is a sandwich made from a small loaf of bread, typically a ciabatta. The loaf is often cut horizontally and filled with salami, ham, meat, cheese or other food, and sometimes served hot. A grilled panino is buttered on the outside and grilled in a press.

Quote of the Day: "Wrong is wrong, even if it helps you." (Popeye, the Sailor)

On Friday, March 13th, everyone go to your local "We surround them meeting" to watch the "Glen Beck" show. It's important. I will be at my local viewing at the 'Double Dave's' on Rock Prarie in College Station. Go to Glennbeck.com for more info and click on the "We Surround them" Link near the bottom of the page to find out where there's a meeting near you.

Fire! Fire!

TimFish Here.

A little excitement in Elevatorville today. One of us, (who will remain nameless), O.K. it was Mark, did something and the elevator controller burst into flames!! Yes, I said FLAMES! Two fire trucks and three police cars arrived to an evacuated building!! I think of the three of us, I'm the only one who HASN'T had a controller burst into flames and clear a building. I know Bill has done it twice. (That I'm aware of). See what good things happen when you sit in the corner on a bucket and make fun of people?

Random Thoughts on the Passing Scene

TimFish Here. I was given a compliment today. Someone told me that they miss it when I don't blog. Now I know that my wit and charm are unparalleled in the elevator industry, and I appreciate it when my peers recognize my brilliance. So thanks to you "Mr. TimFishHereblogappreciationfan". Now, go out and have a Budweiser and celebrate you intuitive thinking.

Has anyone else been wondering when President Obama will stop talking so that the stock market will stop plunging in it's downward spiral? Every time the man talks, Wall Street listens. YIKES.

I recently subscribed to Glen Becks Website so I can download his radio show on my IPOD. If you haven't listened to him, HE'S AWESOME!! I also get the Laura Ingraham show. It gives me something to listen to while I push my Service Vehicle around campus.

The Texas A & M elevator contract is about to come to an end. What will the future hold? Will we get it back? Will Tim still be pushing his cart around? Will Bill still be fixing things? Will Mark still be fixing things? Will Tim still be sitting on a bucket in the corner of the machine room, making jokes while Bill and Mark fix things? Hmmmm.

Nothing

TimFish Here. I got nothing to say.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Hmmmmm.....

TimFish Here. In 1919 on this date, Oregon became the first state to tax gasoline. It began at a penny per gallon. Now its up to 45 cents per gallon, just to the federal government! I don't know the state's take on the scam. The Fed's do NOTHING to produce a gallon of gas, yet they make more per gallon than the oil company does, Yet the oil companies are villains for making 8 to 10 percent profit. Hmmmm...

Sorry I haven't been updating my blog lately. I'm tired from all the walking around the campus. My work isn't getting done and the callbacks are increasing. It's only been about 2 months since the parking ban, and it's already affecting the quality of work. Another Hmmmmm....

Barack Obama wants to raise the price of fuel so that the "alternative fuels" will be more cost effective. Hmmmmm again. How do you think he will raise the price of gasoline so that wind and solar (expensive fuels) will be more cost effective?

There's ANOTHER omnibus spending bill going through Congress now for another 400 Billion dollars. I think I will spend more on my credit card so that I can get out of debt. Hmmmmm..

If you're not mad, then you're not paying attention.

Pushing the Cart

Tim Fish Here. O.K. I'm done with my political tyrade for a day or two. Just accept the fact that the politicians love to spend other people's money. They don't understand that there is no virtue in giving away things that don't belong to them, although it seems to make them feel good about themselves.

I hope you enjoyed my view from behind the cart. I can already see that when the heat of a Texas summer gets here, I'm going to be hot and drained of energy when I get to where I'm going.

I hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day. I know I did!

Spend like a drunken sailor you *@&%!! Politicians

Tim Fish Here. Well, let the spending begin. If Spending money you don't have, creates prosperity, then why aren't we rich? I should be able to eat my way to thinness by this logic. I hope you all have contacted your congressman. It's too late to stop this craziness, but at least let them know that you're not happy about this and you won't forget it when it comes time to vote.

I can't think of anything else to say, so bye

Barbecue!!!!

Tim Fish Here. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!!! Cynthia and I took a day trip to Austin JUST TO EAT AT "THE SALT LICK". We saw this restaurant featured on the Food Network. They said it was the best barbecue ever. Well, being a connoisseur of fine food everywhere. (Translate: eater of meat anywhere) We decided to drive for 2 hours, wait to be seated for 1.5 hours, and then eat for 20 minutes. I began with the combination plate. (Sausage, Brisket and one rib) I ate that plate and asked if I could 'upgrade' to the "family style" (all you can eat plate). I then ate another plate of meat, three slices of their homemade bread, beans, and then a big bowl of blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Mmmm... 7 hours later and I'm still stuffed. I don't want to eat again until...tomorrow.

I must say that at first I wasn't too impressed with the barbecue at the Salt Lick. It was good, but not good enough to drive 2 hours just to wait and then eat. After my first plate though it kind of grew on me. Being from Kansas City and growing up with KC style barbecue, I still believe that KC barbecue is the best. Particularly Smokehouse BBQ and Buffalo Bob's. I did enjoy the day with my best girl.

We stopped at Cabelas on the way home and spent $268.00 on clothes and stuff. The best purchase was a bucket lid with a cushioned seat that spins. I will be adding it to my Service vehicle. I'm sure pictures will be coming soon.

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Tim Fish Here. This is what I think of the "Stimulus" Bill that the Congress is trying to pass. The cost and interest will be over $1,347,000,000,000.00. The 'cure' is worse than the disease. If you spent 1 million dollars a day, and began spending it when Jesus was born, you would still have 700 years of spending, before you ran out of money! But what's a Trillion dollars between friends? CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND TRY TO MAKE THEM STOP THIS MADNESS. NO MORE SPENDING!!! AARRGGGGGGG.

Cynthia says that she's going to have to stop watching the news with me, cause it's making her too mad. Personally, I like getting my blood pressure up, cause that's when I write my more scathing letters to my politicians, and I consider pestering them to be one of my hobbies. Some staffer in Chet Edwards office recognized my name when I called last week to tell him not to vote for this lousy bill. He voted for it anyway, cause he's an idiot. (I didn't vote for him)

Did anyone watch "The Office" Sunday night after the Superbowl? It was Hillllaaarrioussss. Dwight started a fire in the office as a training exercise. Then He cut the face off the CPR training dummy and opened it's chest in order to try and harvest it's organs. Har Dee Har Har Har.

New KONE Service Vehicle

Tim Fish Here. As you can see, I've upgraded my service vehicle. Seems the old Radio Flyer isn't meant for industrial use. The wheels couln't keep up with the required load of the Fishman's tools and sundries. This model comes with a lockable sliding door, and 6 drawers. I modified the cart by adding brackets for a broom handle, an oil can holder and a tube to put my flourescent tubes in. I also added a four foot step ladder and my signature sitting bucket with rags and other stuff inside. I've placed my toolbox, grease gun, and vacuum cleaner in the bottom compartment, and have additional space as needed. There are still a few things I've yet to add, but will get done in the next few days. The only thing I need is bigger wheels. I'm not going to push my luck and ask for them too soon. It took some convincing to get the boss to spring for this sweet ride...er 'push'.

The first picture is the reason I couldn't park in the "Service Vehicle" spot with the useless truck that I drive to work, in order to be allowed to push the cart to the buildings where I do the actual work of servicing elevators. I also hate it when the handicapped people park in my regular non-handicapped spaces. Hmmmm....

Now for something completely different. I think it's funny how the politicians think that not paying taxes is just small problem. I'm glad that Tom Daschle decided to pay taxes on the $89,000.00 he 'forgot' to declare. I think the fact that they want people to pay taxes when someone drives you somewhere is ridiculous. Daschle DID say that tax cheats should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I doubt he'll get the same treatment that you or I would get. He will in fact get away with it. Just like Charlie Rangle, Timothy Geithner, Al Franken etc.. At least he's not going to get the job. What kind of a message is sent when there are two sets of rules?

I wrote to my Congressman and Senators today. Just like the Geico, 'Caveman' commercial, I said; "The Fair Tax: So easy a Politician can do it." I encourage you all to write your Politicians. They need to hear from you.

Barbecue and Movies

Tim Fish Here. I'm watching "Man VS Food" on the Food Network. They're at "The Salt Lick" near Austin. I think we're going to make a 'day trip' out there and try their Barbecue. It looks good. It may be close to beating my favorite place to eat. Buffalo Bob's Smokehouse in Lawrence, KS. I prefer Kansas City barbecue over the traditional Texas barbecue. I like the sweeter sauce of the midwest over the spicy dry barbecue of the south. However, even bad barbecue is better than no barbecue.

We went to see that new movie called 'Taken' with Liam Neeson. I have to give it a good score. I always like movies where the good guy kicks butt and doesn't take names. How come I always finish my popcorn before the movie even starts? Most of the time I forget what movie we've come to see. I watch the movie trailers for upcoming features and then I forget what we've come for. Hmmmm....

Weather Cold, Fire Hot

Tim Fish here. Yesterday a cold front came through. I went home and started up the fire and enjoyed the smokey atmosphere. Today I had to walk around campus dressed in my coat. I went home for lunch and ate some great peach pie that my DW (Dear Wife) made. Yummm

Spastic Colon Sunday

Tim Fish Here. Well it's Sunday evening and we have....Spastic colon Sunday. You know the feeling you get when you realize the weekend is almost over and tomorrow is a workday. I used to have that feeling every Sunday night and especially on the Sunday nights at the end of a week's vacation. It was so bad that I rarely took vacation. The Spastic Colon Sunday has gone away with age. I think as you grow older the pressures of job and life seem to lessen. That or either I'm just crazy and things don't bother me anymore.

I saw that Motor Trend Magazine Labeled The Chevy Vega as one of the 10 worst cars that they ever gave an award to. I LOVED my old Vega. It was the first car I ever owned. I just got through with school, and my dad took me down to the Chevy dealer in Lawrence, KS and we picked it out. (used) Then we went to the Eudora State Bank in Eudora, KS and talked to Don Bagby and got my first loan. I paid $100.00 a month for it. I don't remember the price, but it was a good car for me. I remember driving it away from the lot and realizing that for the first time, I am independent. I promptly ran over a curb and ruined the right front wheel rim and had to put on the spare. (how embarrassing) One day while driving home from work in Topeka, I pulled out from the stop light and T-Boned some guy who pulled across the four lanes of moving traffic and...totaled my sweet ride. I must admit that my seat belt saved me from going through the windshield. The guy had no insurance, no job, and no driver's license. I had Liability insurance so...I was out of a car and all he got was an $80 ticket. Seems like a good deal to me. No responsibility for irresponsible behavior. No. Wait. Obama will fix everything!!

And now for something completely different.

Saturday night we went to Houston to the 'Comedy Sportz Club'. What a good time. If you like good clean entertainment, I recommend it.

Walking to work

Tim Fish Here. Well, today I did my usual walking. I thought I'd make some videos about my day. Enjoy.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Take a hike and get to work

Tim Fish Here. Well for anyone interested, I spent more time walking than working today. I'm tired and my feet hurt. I did get a couple of items taken care of. I replaced a couple of hall buttons in one building. (Only had to walk back to parts room once. That was one mile.) Then AFTER lunch, I walked over to Jack E. Brown building so I could get called off that project and walked back to the truck to go to West Campus. (20 minutes each way for 40 minutes. Got nothing done there.) Then, after fixing the elevator on West Campus, I walked back to Jack E. Brown bldg. (20 more minutes) swept out three pits and by then....time to walk back to the truck and go home. Not a real productive day, but I think I will be losing weight. (woo hoo)

I have nothing to say about the goings on in Washington. It's too depressing

Obama, O, Brother

Tim Fish here. I don't know about you, but ENOUGH already!!!! I Know it's historic, I know they're excited, I know the Socialist Party won the election, but give me a break!!! The Main Stream Media seem to be having "Oborgasms". Can we just get back to normal? If I see one more analyst talking about how wonderful this is with all the 'hope' and 'change' I think my head will explode. We still don't know what change he's talking about.

O.K. now, I just deleted some stuff that I was typing. My wife, (Bless her) told me to be careful about what I said. I know the theory of free speech, but these days..... Tomorrow, (Tuesday) after work, we're going to Cinemark and watch a movie. T.V. is just too depressing. (Sigh)

Saturday Morning

Tim Fish Here. I took this picture of the Black Hawk Helicopter that crashed in the field across from Duncan Dining Hall. Two of the Five crew members have died from this, and the other three are in stable condition at the hospital. I pray for their families and all who are affected by this. It is a tragedy.

On another note: I love Saturdays. I love staying up late on Friday night, and sleeping in the next day.
Now last Saturday I didn't get to do this cause the crummy escalator at Kyle field HAD to be repaired before Monday morning's event at the 'Zone'. Why is it that rich and/or important people have to have the perception that everything is always working and nothing ever breaks down? I have always been interested in this phenomenon.
I've worked on elevators at Presidential Libraries, (Here and Truman Library in Independance, MO.) Football Stadiums, (Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the Chiefs, University of Kansas, Utah, Oregon, and now Texas A&M) Fancy Hotels and Rich People's homes in Park City, Utah. I've worked on elevators for Larry Miller, (owner of the Utah Jazz basketball) Huntsman's elevator (Now governor of Utah) The elevator that George H.W. Bush rides when he's living in his apartment, here in College Station. I've been called to check on the elevators at many places where these VIP's are expected to be coming to visit in the 'next day or two'.
It just seems to me that they are people like everyone else, so why are these 'underlings' so nervous about normal life 'happening' to these 'exceptional' people? Did they get to their current status in life by being sheltered from reality? I suspect that some have, such as Al Gore, Carolyn Kennedy, etc., but for the most part these people have worked hard and brought themselves up from 'normal life' to where they are 'important'. I guess their time is so valuable that they don't have time left to walk over to the bank of elevators instead of taking the escalator. It just seems curious to me. hmmm.....
The fact is, mechanical equipment sometimes breaks down, and there's just nothing anyone can do to stop it. No amount of preventive maintenance, or inspections. (See Picture above) So the next time you are inconvenienced because something has broken down, whether it's your car, or an elevator, or even the traffic light, just know that there's a good person out there who is trying to do their best to prevent such things, but in this imperfect world, things break. Show a little patience and kindness. Besides, the repairman probably justed walked a half mile, pulling his little red wagon, loaded down with tools:)

KONE Service Vehicle

Tim Fish Here. Well, as promised, I took a picture of my new 'Service Vehicle'. Notice the sleek design and the 'racer' logo between the words 'Radio' and 'Flyer'. The independent suspension and the swivel steering. It's a single speed, but I suspect on rainy days it'll go faster than on a nice breezy day. The red hubcaps were optional, but I paid the extra and got them anyway. I didn't get the rear bumper, but I did get the tow package. (I AM THE TOW PACKAGE)

It happened today, just as I predicted. About 4:00 p.m., three people were stuck on an elevator at the Architecture building. Where was I? A long way off, pulling my little red wagon. It took about 20 minutes, but I finally "pulled up" to the building. (yuck, yuck) I got the people out and gave my explanation to the building proctor as to the delay in my arrival. "You've got to be kidding," He exclaimed. Then I showed him.... 'The KONE Maintenance Vehicle'. His jaw dropped open and he shook his head. Just the response I was looking for. Perhaps the e-mails are flying, and this new parking policy will someday be history. Passive Aggressive, thy name is...Tim Fish, Elevator Man.

My Little Red Wagon

Tim Fish Here. Is there some test that people take to become supervisors? I used to be a manager, but I also believe in the "Peter Principle" that states (loosely) that someone is promoted until they are incompetent. This was one of the guiding principles that helped me realize that I am better at fixing elevators, than I am at supervising men who fix them. So after six years of 'managing' (poorly at times) I picked my tools back up, and have been happy ever since.

Well, today one of the "geniuses" who sits at a desk and has no idea what it takes to do my job, has decided that all of the "worker bees" will park their trucks in the parking garages and walk to whichever building they need to work at. (A little background. For the past 100 years, 'elevator men' have had "rock star" parking, because no one likes being stuck on an elevator while the elevator man is looking for a parking place.) Now there will be no 'on street' parking, no parking at the building docks, no parking in the 30 minute parking, etc... What's up with this?

Tomorrow I will have pictures, but let me tell you what I've done.

I went to WalMart (during company time) and bought a "Radio Flyer" red wagon. Then I spent the rest of the day pulling it around campus from building to building, doing my elevator maintenance. I have my 35 pound tool box, my 'Homer' bucket with my multi-voltage meter, electrical connectors, head light, and rags neatly stashed inside, my Hoover vacuum cleaner, my red oil can, and a few assorted elevator parts that I might need. (Little light bulbs for the elevator push buttons and stuff) I need to figure out how to attach my trusty broom for sweeping out the pits and my dust pan. I gotta tell you, I'm a little sore from all the walking, but I've been wanting to lose weight anyway.

Oh yeah, I'll show them. They may try to keep me from doing my job, but I'll find a way to do it anyway. After all.....I am, Tim Fish, elevatorman.

The Feeding of the Grandkids

Tim Fish Here. The grandkids (and their mother) came for a visit this week. I absolutely love it when they come and wish they came more frequently. (Hint, hint) We, (and when I say we, I mean the women) fed them 'breakfast' for supper. They say 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day', but when we eat it for supper, is that still true? Hmmm...

Tonight, C and I are going to go out for a well deserved date. We go every Friday night. Either a movie or dinner, or dinner AND a movie!! Do I know how to show a girl a good time or what? (She said 'yes')

Fish's Christmas

Tim Fish Here. I forgot to show you my Christmas day video! My sweet wife prepared a delicious repast. There was Ham, potatoes, ambrosia, some other stuff that escapes my memory, because it's been two weeks plus, but I do remember that I ate lots and enjoyed it much. Later that day we all played 'Sequence', the game involving a board, cards, AND chips. (Not the kind you eat) It's a game for all ages, and Cynthia and I dominated over my daughter-in-law, so we enjoyed it more than usual:)

I'm enjoying my Dick Morris book, "Fleeced". Remember, if you're not mad, then you're not paying attention!!

New Year

Tim Fish Here. I was gently nudged by my beloved wife to blog. I hope everyone is having a good new year. We, here at the Fish home are having a great one so far. Rumor has it that some grandkids are coming over for a day or two. (woo hoo) I've been practicing my guitar and have enjoyed my cool new ipod touch. I purchased Dick Morris's new book "Fleeced". I recommend everyone getting this book. I think we all need to be informed about our government. In fact, I think people who can't pass a simple civics test, shouldn't be allowed to vote. (See recent election results).

Saturday I got my Christmas lights taken down, in a timely fashion, and got them back into the boxes that they came in. That is no small feat! It's almost like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube. I always figured that if I put out Christmas lights, it would be June or July before I took them down. I suprised myself. Then we sat out on the patio and ate dinner and I practiced my strumming. What a great weekend. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Bleck eyed peas

Tim Fish here. Who in the world came up with the idea that Bleck, eyed peas would bring good luck for the eater? Yeah, you read it right. It wasn't a typo, I said "Bleck," not Black. Thankfully I haven't needed to eat gross, nasty tasting food in order to have good luck. C. cooked some of those vile little beans for her supper, but she also made me some great white northern beans to eat with cornbread. Yummm.... One of us may get lucky. What will be the reason? The bleck eyed peas, or the great white northerns? Will the luck be caused by some other mysterious force of nature? Where does luck come from? Do we create our own luck, or is luck an illusion brought on by a series of coincidences? I think I was lucky that I didn't have to cook my own supper:)
