Tim Fish Here. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!!! Cynthia and I took a day trip to Austin JUST TO EAT AT "THE SALT LICK". We saw this restaurant featured on the Food Network. They said it was the best barbecue ever. Well, being a connoisseur of fine food everywhere. (Translate: eater of meat anywhere) We decided to drive for 2 hours, wait to be seated for 1.5 hours, and then eat for 20 minutes. I began with the combination plate. (Sausage, Brisket and one rib) I ate that plate and asked if I could 'upgrade' to the "family style" (all you can eat plate). I then ate another plate of meat, three slices of their homemade bread, beans, and then a big bowl of blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Mmmm... 7 hours later and I'm still stuffed. I don't want to eat again until...tomorrow.
I must say that at first I wasn't too impressed with the barbecue at the Salt Lick. It was good, but not good enough to drive 2 hours just to wait and then eat. After my first plate though it kind of grew on me. Being from Kansas City and growing up with KC style barbecue, I still believe that KC barbecue is the best. Particularly Smokehouse BBQ and Buffalo Bob's. I did enjoy the day with my best girl.
We stopped at Cabelas on the way home and spent $268.00 on clothes and stuff. The best purchase was a bucket lid with a cushioned seat that spins. I will be adding it to my Service vehicle. I'm sure pictures will be coming soon.

THE Best Barbeque in your area...
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Huntsville, TX. All proceeds go to church. All other barbeque just can't stand up to them. Yummy!
The cart comes now with a sit-n-spin? Isn't that for grandkids?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
